This pub was a brand-new one to serve residents
of recently redeveloped Lancashire Hill. The licence came from the
Duke of Wellington and the
Millstone, both of which disappeared
with the reshaping of the area. This Boddingtons house opened in 1970 but
was short lived. Fondly remembered by many, along with the Nicholson’s Arms
at the other end of the estate, the Nip Inn provided a place for new
residents to socialise, relax and get to know one another. It, too, closed
around 2001 and was demolished. Over the years, there have been several
planning applications to build apartments in its place, although currently
nature has taken over the site and there is little evidence of the pub which
used to stand there. |
