The Harriers was situated at 15 West End. This grade-II listed pub is now in residential use.

I was born at home in The Harriers on 24th October 1967. My mum and dad, Diana and Eric were Landlord and Landlady there. I don't remember much as I was quite young when we moved from there to Luton where mum and dad took over the running of the TUC Club, which I remember was near to Vauxhall Motors (I'm not sure if that is also closed now too). I have vague memories of the bar and its big heavy wooden furniture at The Harriers and the family rooms upstairs which came down through a door into the main bar area. I can also picture the kitchen where mum cooked and a a long yard with outbuildings. There was a shop down the road and mum was friendly with 2 ladies called Dylis and Litsy (I remember them due to the unusual names).

Listed building details:

House. Early/mid C18. Coursed limestone rubble; late C19 stucco front. Gabled concrete tile roof; brick end stack. 2-unit plan. 2 storeys and attic; 2-window range. Central C20 door and plank door to left. Late C19 two-pane sashes. 2 gabled roof dormers. Interior and rear not inspected but likely to be of interest. Included for group value.
