This pub was started by my great grandfather
Ephraim Lott at the end of his farm house in Dragon Lane. it was then taken
over by my grandfather. |

My grandad Eddie Baker was on the
darts team, my dad Gordon Devine was a Sunday lunch regular and my late
husband Robbie Barkham asked my dad here if we could get married. Will
never forget that night. Remember as a child sitting outside in the car
eating crisps with a bottle of coke. |

My grandparents, Louis and Ella Gilford ran the Green Dragon, they had
two sons, Tony and Alan (my dad). Not sure when they started running the
pub, but my Grandad died in the 70s when I was about 5. I remember
playing with the promotional babycham deers in the bar. (and eating
crisps and having a bottle of coke!) They had a small holding out the
back. Not to mention, Whiskey, the temperamental Jack Russell!!! |
