The Apps Court Tavern was situated on Terrace Road. on the corner of what is now Sunnyside (Road). It was built in the early 1900s for the labourers employed to build the nearby Knight and Bessborough Reservoirs. The tavern was named after Apps Court House, a 14th century mansion, demolished to make way for the water treatment works. The tavern was demolished in the early 1960s.

My grandmother Berta Kemp who ran the pub with her husband Tom Kemp and my mother Mary lived there until WW11, mum told me that a few weeks after they moved out a bomb landed near by and some of the ceilings came down, she also remembered going into the cellar during air raids.
