I was working in IT for Tate & Lyle in the early
2000s, based at the refinery in Silvertown, London. T&L purchased the flour
mill (then called Marstons) in Icklingham and I would be sent there
occasionally to update the IT systems. I made sure to arrive in the morning
so I could get lunch at the pub down the road. The beer was great, and I
would have the king prawns in garlic butter appetizer, with crusty bread,
and an amazing sausage salad served in giant wooden bowl. All on the company
dime! A nice country drive, an hour or two of work, a fine meal, and then
home. Happy days! |
