A Novel Case Under The Married Women's
Property Act
Mr. George Baker, solicitor, of Willenhall, applied on behalf of Mrs Ann
Tildesley, of the Plough Inn, Stafford Street, Willenhall, for the transfer
of the license of that house to herself. He remarked that the case was a
very, novel one. Mrs. Tildesley was the widow of the late Jesse Banks, and
at present held the license for the house under the name of Ann Banks. Her
late husband, by his will, bequeathed the whole of his property to her for
her private use, but since his death she had married again, and she now
sought the protection of the Bench, in order that she might still hold the
license without any referenceto her husband..... the magistrates granted the
application. |
