The Egremont Hotel was situated at 1 Fore Street.  This grade-II listed pub has now been converted into flats.
 

 
Listed building details:
Hotel. Early C19, enlarged mid C19. Roughcast over rubble, rendered pilaster strip quoins, hipped tiled roof, overhanging eaves, brick stacks rising from eaves right, on roof ridge left return. 'L'-plan, short entrance front on to Fore Street with long return on to Bank Street. Entrance front: 2 storeys, 3 bays; 12 pane sash windows, tripartite on groundfloor, central trabeated doorcase, billet and pearl surround with moulded cornice and blank panel over door. Long left return, 1:1:3:1 bays, full height canted bay window end left, mixed 12 and 18 pane sash windows of differing sizes with long moulded panels first floor carrying the name of the hotel set in from end bays; similar early C19 doorcase, rectangular light with octagonal patterned glazing bar. Interior altered C20.
