The Plume Of Feathers was situated on
Market Square. This pub was built in 1686. It was a coaching inn in the town
centre that was opposite the original Duke of Wellington pub. Daniel Defoe,
author of Robinson Crusoe stayed here in 1772. The pub was demolished in
1965 and replaced by a retail unit. |
