The Dandy Roll was situated at Gateway House, Bread Street. This pub opened in 1956 in Gateway House, headquarters of the Wiggins Teape group. A Dandy Roll is a piece of machinery used in paper manufacturing. It was demolished in 1999.

I have very fond memories of working at The Dandy Roll, Bread Street, in the City, during 1971. I was on a working holiday. The owners were married couple...I think he was an ex policeman.....a lovely couple. Other memories are of a beaten copper bar which we used to polish regularly and I remember working with Aggie. Jukebox and great food downstairs. It was my one and only experience of working in a pub and I loved it. I was very sad to see that it has been demolished. I was hoping to revisit one day.
