The Beehive was situated at 11
High Hill Ferry and has now been converted to residential use.
This pub was present by 1861, was rebuilt in 1915, and closed during the
Second World War. It is said that closure came when the Revenue caught the
guv’nor indulging in a little spot of wartime bootlegging. It was a
Whitbread house (at least it was between 1896 and 1906). |
