The Lord Nelson was situated at 230 Commercial
Lane.
This pub was present by 1869 and was rebuilt in its present form in 1892 by
architects Bird & Walters. Into the 1980s it retained a fairly
well-preserved, Victorian interior. But closure came in 2005 and the
premises are now in use as a restaurant. It had been a Charrington’s
Brewery pub. |

There were two bars, the front bar (the public
bar) and the rear bar, The Ladies bar, the entrance to the back bar was via
a door on the side of the building so the women would not be seen entering
and leaving! |
