From N Lincolnshire Heritage: |
'Generous Briton (P.H.)' printed and shown on
Ordnance Survey 1:2500 mapping, 1964-1977. Located on the north side of
North End, centred to TA10302195. [1]
Article from The Goxhill Gander, 2015 - '16 pints a day at the Generous
Briton !' The pub may have originally been three cottages. It was popular
with local agricultural workers, and the pub yard was used as an arena for
whippet racing. Quoits were also played, and the yard was also used by
itinerant traders. Musical entertainment also took place in one of the
outbuildings, 'a barn above the stables'. A photograph of the frontage c.
1960 accompanies the article.
The building shown on post-war mapping has been converted to residential
use, and was named 'Briton Lodge' in 2015. |
