The Castle was situated at 36 Fydell Street.
Until relatively recently all pubs were licensed by the local
Magistrates. I worked in the Court for 38 years;.there were various types of
licence but, in Boston, this was the only 'cider only'. The publican in 1896
was S Symons. |

This Soames Brewery pub was sold to Steward & Patteson
in 1949 and closed in 2011. |

Reopened in 2012 and then closed permanently in
2015 by which time it was known as The New Castle. |

|
A 19th century public house first licensed in
1874 and which closed in 2011; the building was vacant as of November 2021.
It was the only licesed house west of the railway and of the Grand Sluice in
the 19th century. The building is a two storey red-brown brick, L-shaped
plan building. The hipped pantile roof has areduced gable stack. |
