    | The Steam Engine Tavern was situated at 
    the corner of Dainton Street and Higher Sheffield Street. This pub has now been 
    demolished. |

    | My mother took several pictures of both 
    the tavern and of the old brewery building and horse barns when she was 
    visiting relatives in England in 1985 or 87. The family of my great 
    grandparents (Kent) apparently owned the tavern etc, but two of the 
    brothers, Robert and Thomas, sold their interests to two other brothers, and 
    with the money, came to Canada. The date would have likely been somewhere 
    around 1880 as they came to Canada in 1881. |
