The
Black Horse was situated at 1 Coombe Vale
Road. This pub was previously known as The Golden Lion until the publican
purchased 95 Bitton Park Road and converted it to a pub, which was then
called The Golden Lion, renaming this pub to The Black Horse. It was closed and demolished
in 1977 to make way for road
junction improvements. It was a Starkley, Knight & Ford of Paignton pub. |

Lived here as a child remember the interior very clearly. Parents ran
the pub. There was a large door way on to coombe vale road for some
deliveries. It also had another large elevated room at the end of the
yard. There was a public bar and a lounge. Local fishermen would often
supply Mum with fresh fish. While we lived in the pub there was a corner
shop near the apex of the corner. |
