Paul Millington |
late 1950s/early 1960s |
My aunt and uncle Florence and Bert Yarrow were licensees
for many years in the 1950s and 1960s, and we stayed there many times. I
remember climbing in the very old Elm Tree, said to be the hiding place
of Charles being hunted by Cromwell's men. Also sleeping in the rooms
said to be used by Henry V111 and family. Also remember being chased by
my aunt's goose named Charlie that had a nasty bite. Good to see that
the pub retains its character. |
