The White Rose was situated at 24 Temple Street. This pub was present by 1861 when the publican was Sophia Kendrick. It was demolished in 1968 and rebuilt on an adjacent site. Closed in 2008 it was demolished in 2011 with housing built on the site.

My grandparents managed it in the late 1990's. From memory they took it on in late 1997 and left in late 1998. Definitely post September 97 as they had just left the Horseley Tavern at Great Bridge that month, on the Sunday Princess Diana died. They were nearing retirement at that stage, so relieved managed and took on short term work around the West Midlands. Their names were Arthur and Mavis Edwards, from Willenhall. Mavis passed in January 2016 at 78, Arthur in October 2025 at 91. They also kept the Royal Exchange around the corner from 1995-96.
