I lived in Farmers road 7 houses from the Beresford Arm Pub. In about 1955/7 if my mum & dad went to the pub my sister and I would be left on the steps of the pub with a glass of orange juice and an arrow root biscuit, I hated those biscuits. Apart from the orange juice the only other good thing to happen was that sometimes some of the men leaving the pub would give me and my sister some pennies which to us was a fortune. Being left on the steps of a pub does not sound like a very good thing to do but back then it was fairly common.
