The Britannia was situated on the
corner of Cuxton Road and Priory Road. This pub closed c2005. |

The Britannia was always called The Corner Pin
by locals. I played Pool for them on and off in the 80's and 90's. I
remember one night we were sat there having a late one with my Sister who
occasionally worked behind the bar, and a couple of guys stuck their head
around the door and asked if they could come in for a late one.
The Landlord agreed with a big smile on his face, Chas and Dave walked in
the door, what a night that was, singing along to Chas and Dave, getting
very drunk, I don't remember what time I left, I had work the next day, but
I could still hear everyone singing as I walked down Cuxton Road....As you
all know Chas passed in 2018, he's probably having a sing along with my
Sister. |
