The Manor Shades was situated on Manor Road. This pub was open from 1879 to 1904, then from 1925, finally closing on 31st December 2012.

Brian Bartels	1974/c1980	I managed Harris Jewellery in the High Street and called into the Manor Shades most Saturday nights, quite a social clique. There was a man, I think his name was Albert who owned an electrical shop in the town, his drink he called a proper poorly and was (I think, port and rum) The landlord was a sprightly, welcoming character. Happy days!
